Paul E. Carter II

Paul Edward Carter II, longtime resident of Grass Valley, California, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by family.

Born October 23, 1956, Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Joe Ann Carter, his grandmother Hildreth Eloise Martin, brother Jeffrey Lee Carter, and sister Dawn Ann Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debi Bowen; two stepdaughters, Shelly Sullivan and Lori Lane; six grandchildren, all of Grass Valley; and sisters Shirley Richman, Robin Silva, and Amy Carter, along with many nephews and nieces.

Paul attended Vista High School, where he was a member of the Marching Band and flew to Europe to perform. He served in the United States Navy and attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Vista, California, where he was an acolyte.

Before relocating to Grass Valley from Vista, Paul worked as a butcher for Provimi Veal in the Bay Area. Most recently, he spent the last 10 years at Benchmark Thermal in Grass Valley before his illness.

Paul loved fishing and boating with his sister Shirley, but was most proud of being "papa" to his grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 2026.
