Age 65
Jim Moon Jr., a 30-year PG&E employee and lifelong Nevada City resident, passed away on January 4, 2026. He was 65. A celebration of his life is scheduled for June 20, 2026.
Jim Moon Jr., passed away on January 4, 2026, at age 65.
Born December 1, 1960, in Grass Valley, California, Jim was the son of Jim and Eileen Moon. He grew up in Nevada City and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1979. He worked for PG&E for 30 years, retiring as an accomplished professional.
Jim loved playing softball, camping, hiking, and outdoor adventures of all kinds.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Tennell) Moon, whom he married on April 5, 1981; his four children: Suzanne (Mitch) Morse, Erica (Chris) Salter, Andrew (Callie) Moon, and Skyler (Sydney) Moon; ten grandchildren: Alexis, JJ, Maverick, Violet, Magnolia, Vaughn, Tillie, Vivian, Gwyneth, and Theo; his parents Jim and Eileen Moon; his sister Clara (Art) DeLuca; and brothers Coral Moon and Shannan (Amy) Moon, as well as his in-laws Mike and Terry Robinson and Mike and Kathy Piper.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Ruby Ryberg, Allen and Ada Moon, and his brother Lance Moon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Project Heart.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Western Gateway Park, followed by a Memorial Softball Tournament.
