Paul E. Carter II, 69, of Grass Valley

Paul Edward Carter II, a longtime resident of Grass Valley, California, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 23, 1956.

Paul attended Vista High School where he participated in the Marching Band and had the opportunity to fly to Europe to perform. He also attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Vista, California, where he served as an acolyte. After high school, he served his country in the United States Navy.

Before relocating to Grass Valley from Vista, Paul worked as a butcher in the Provimi Veal operation in the Bay Area. He spent the last 10 years of his career at Benchmark Thermal in Grass Valley before his illness.

Paul was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating with his sister Shirley, but his greatest pride and joy were his six grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debi Bowen; his stepdaughters Shelly Sullivan and Lori Lane; his six grandchildren, all of Grass Valley; and his sisters Shirley Richman, Robin Silva, and Amy Carter, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Joe Ann Carter, his grandmother Hildreth Eloise Martin, his brother Jeffrey Lee Carter, and his sister Dawn Ann Carter.

A Celebration of Life is planned for May 2026. Details will be announced.
