Sal Alberti, a Nevada County native and Certified Public Accountant (CPA), has announced his candidacy for Nevada County Auditor-Controller, pledging to bring financial integrity, transparency, and rigorous independent oversight to the county's finances.

Professional Background

Alberti brings decades of high-level accounting and finance experience. A graduate of Nevada Union High School (Class of 1987), he earned both a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Accounting) and a Master's degree in Accountancy from San Diego State University.

He began his career with one of the "Big Four" global accounting firms in San Jose, where he developed expertise in auditing, compliance, and financial reporting—including auditing the State of California. Throughout his career in the semiconductor, security software, and medical device industries, Alberti held senior accounting and finance roles, overseeing complex financial systems, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring organizations meet the highest standards of accountability.

As a California licensed CPA in good standing, Alberti emphasizes that the Auditor-Controller must be "independent in fact and appearance," demanding both technical expertise and unwavering objectivity.

Community Commitment

Alberti returned to his hometown to care for an elderly parent. Since his return, he has served on the Nevada County Grand Jury, where he participated in oversight of local government operations and public agencies. He has also served as board secretary for his local road association since 2019, representing 78 neighboring properties.
