Music in the Mountains Recruiting Volunteers for 40-Year-Old Community Arts Organization
Music in the Mountains invites Nevada County residents to volunteer for the nonprofit organization's concerts and music education programs, offering flexible opportunities in ushering, concessions, office work, and event support.
Music in the Mountains, which has been producing high-quality concerts and music education programs throughout Nevada County for more than 40 years, is expanding its volunteer community and inviting local residents to join its dedicated team.
The organization will host a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at the Music in the Mountains office at 465 S Auburn Street in Grass Valley, across from Silver Springs High School.
A Vital Community Partnership
At the heart of Music in the Mountains' success is its volunteer community—a vibrant group of music lovers, arts supporters, and neighbors committed to making a meaningful difference in Nevada County's cultural landscape.
"When my singing days were ended by a medical issue, I found a way to stay in touch with MIM by volunteering to usher or work at office tasks," explains chorus alum Chris Kane. "And I made some new friends too. It's a wonderful way to continue to contribute to the art and music scene in Nevada County."
Flexible Volunteer Opportunities
All levels of participation are welcome, and no prior experience is required. Volunteer opportunities span a wide range of interests and skills, including:
- Helping in the office
- Setting up venues
- Selling tickets and concessions
- Ushering at performances
- Assisting with post-concert cleanup
Training is provided, and volunteer assignments are thoughtfully matched to each person's interests and availability. Volunteer hours are flexible and vary based on individual interests and assignments.
Community Recognition
Grass Valley volunteer Peggy Davis appreciated how the organization values different talents: "I have volunteered for many groups over the years, but I have never felt more welcome and appreciated than working with Music in the Mountains."
