Jim Moon Jr., 65, of Nevada City

Jim Moon Jr. passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born December 1, 1960, in Grass Valley to Jim and Eileen Moon.

Jim grew up in Nevada City and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1979. He dedicated 30 years of his career to PG&E, where he built a strong reputation as a dedicated and reliable employee.

Jim's passions were rooted in the outdoors. He loved to play softball, camp, hike, and do anything that allowed him to enjoy nature and spend time with those he loved.

Jim is survived by his wife Cindy (Tennell), whom he married on April 5, 1981; his four children, Suzanne (Mitch) Morse, Erica (Chris) Salter, Andrew (Callie) Moon, and Skyler (Sydney) Moon; his ten grandchildren, Alexis, JJ, Maverick, Violet, Magnolia, Vaughn, Tillie, Vivian, Gwyneth, and Theo; his parents Jim and Eileen Moon; his siblings Clara (Art) DeLuca, Coral Moon, and Shannan (Amy) Moon; and his in-laws Mike and Terry Robinson and Mike and Kathy Piper. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Ruby Ryberg and Allen and Ada Moon, as well as his brother Lance Moon.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Western Gateway Park with a Memorial Softball Tournament to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Project Heart.
