Former Grass Valley City Council Member Bob Branstrom Announces Run for 2026 Council Seat

Former Grass Valley City Council Member Bob Branstrom announced his candidacy for Grass Valley City Council in the November 2026 General Election, bringing his experience and vision for continued community improvement to voters.

Branstrom previously served on the City Council from 2020 to 2024 and has been active in local volunteer organizations since moving to Grass Valley in 2013. During his tenure, he was part of leadership that oversaw significant improvements to the community.

According to Branstrom's announcement, accomplishments during his prior council service include making the Mill Street Plaza permanent, expanding recreational opportunities with additional soccer fields, pickleball courts, and upgraded baseball and swimming facilities. Grass Valley also joined Pioneer Community Energy under that leadership, helping to lower electricity bills for city residents and businesses. Infrastructure improvements included street resurfacing and repaving projects.

Public safety priorities were enhanced with increased funding for firefighters and the creation of a risk management team.

For his current campaign, Branstrom has identified housing and economic development as key focus areas, while emphasizing the importance of fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

"Our local businesses are the economic driver for Grass Valley, and I will continue to support them," Branstrom said in his announcement.

Beyond city council, Branstrom is a supporter of the local arts community and currently serves on the InConcert Sierra Board of Directors. He is enthusiastic about the organization's construction of Crown Point Venues and its potential to elevate performing arts in Grass Valley.

Branstrom brings professional experience in government, banking, and healthcare, in addition to his volunteer work. He is an award-winning local photographer and hiking enthusiast.

"Grass Valley needs trusted, experienced, and well-informed leadership to protect and strengthen our community. I am committed to providing that for our residents and businesses."

The November 2026 General Election will determine the composition of Grass Valley City Council for the next term. Voters will decide between candidates vying for positions on the council.
